Christmas Party Food for Kids
The focus for these parties is the activity and Christmas parties in general focus on "sweet" treats. So my suggestion is to have appetizers or finger foods. Here are some simple kid's favorites. Meatballs in barbecue sauce, mozzarella sticks with sauce, chicken nuggets with dipping sauces, fresh fruit, French bread topped with garlic and herb cream cheese, Pizza Bites – slice French bread, top with pizza sauce, mozzarella cheese and desired toppings, bake until crispy and cheese is melted. Spiral rollups – spread cream cheese on one side of a tortilla, layer deli meat, cheese and vegetables that you like then start at one side and roll up tightly. Slice to form spiral circles. Besides regular Chex mix here are two simple snack mix recipes.
S'mores Party Mix
2 cups honey graham cereal
1 cup peanuts
1 cup tiny marshmellows
1/2 cup raisins
1/2 cup miniature semi sweet chocolate chips
Combine in a bowl and mix
Ranch Snack Mix
2 packages (6 ounces each) bugles
1 package (6 ounces) cheddar cheese gold fish crackers
1 package (12 ounces) miniature pretzels
1 can (10 ounces) cashews
1 envelope ranch salad dressing mix
3/4 cup vegetable oil
Makes 6 quarts
In a very large bowl or two bowls combine all ingredients but vegetable oil and ranch salad dressing mix. Toss gently. Drizzle with oil and toss until well coated. Sprinkle with half of the salad dressing mix toss again. Then sprinkle with the remaining half and toss once more. Store in airtight container
